This project involved photographing male artists who use the medium of drag to create personas and express their creativity. A visual comparison was created between the artists in their “boy clothes” and in their drag incarnations.
An exhibit and book were created with the title DRESSED. The book is currently available for purchase.
I have always been interested in people who use their body as a canvas for art. Even though the tattoos themselves are fascinating, the people who create them and those that wear them are the real story.
Kevin Lee Short was a tall man with long hair and a beard. He wore a long flowing robe and looked like Jesus Christ. Walking around in Los Angeles for years, Kevin became part of the city’s fabric. And then he was gone.
I was fortunate enough to know and photograph Kevin for an exhibit and book shortly before he passed away. These photographs are part of the legacy of a complex and extremely talented individual.
